

Whether you like them or not, the US President and First Lady have had a psychic shift on the art world, moving
artists to incorporate Obama imagery into their work.
"Icons & Art: Michelle & Barack" will focus on how the Obamas have seemingly overnight changed the rules
in America. Whether it's issues of race, politics or war, artists around the globe are expressing their feelings
through iconic Obama work.
We are now accepting submissions for work that references the Obamas in some manner. Please see guidelines
and submission information below.
Submission Guidelines
- Entry form must be completed and included with entry
- Entry fee is $20.00 (US dollars) for up to three (3) images
- Artists may submit up to three (3) images
- Work must be submitted on CD in JPEG format*
- Work must be 2-dimensional, no larger than 16 inches by 24 inches
- Selected finalists will be required to ship actual work for exhibition
*Files should be titled with the artist’s first and last name, and entry number. (example: Pablo_Picasso_1.jpg) No
other files should be on the CD. Do not submit any other materials such as resume, CV, statement, etc. Artist’s
first and last name should be written clearly on the CD itself.

Please make all checks/money orders payable to J. Lucas Gallery. Non-US entries must be in US dollars. CDs will
not be returned, but kept by the gallery for up to one year, then destroyed. All work must be for sale. J. Lucas
Gallery will retain 50 percent of the purchase price. Indicated prices should reflect this.
Shipment of Work:
Shipping and handling fees to and from the exhibition will be the responsibility of the artist. Please pack work in
a well-secured package, with any special handling/packaging instructions clearly visible. Packaging will be
reused for return shipment. Accepted artists must include a check for the amount of return shipping. All shipped
work must arrive no later than Friday, September 4, 2009. Work may also be hand delivered to the gallery
before September 4, 2009.
