Born in Los Angeles, Carol
graduated from the Art Center
College of Design. She worked
as a Union Scenic Artist,
painting billboards and backdrops
for theatre, motion pictures,
and TV.

For over 20 years she painted
women-in-water; swimmers. When her son started surfing, her work began to deal with men-on-water. The "Surfer
Series" being exhibited at the J. Lucas Gallery deals with the history and energy of surfing.

In 2008, Carol's solo show
"Flow: New Works by Carol Bennett" opened at The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu.
She has completed over 100 corporate and public art commissions and is in the permanent collection of the
Hawaii State Art Museum, Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the Contemporary Museum, and the
Honolulu Academy of the Arts. She lives on the Island of Kauai, Hawaii and had always intended to live in New York.

"Water: A Point of Departure" is the title for an 8' x 82' Public Art installation painted on recycled sails that Carol
Bennett dedicated in May, 2009. Its title describes the conceptual thrust of her oeuvre. While specific subject matter
and materials are far-flung, she always returns to the ocean for inspiration.
